Fragrance search has Doctor Sniffing
Dear Dr. Fashion: In the 50’s and 60’s, I wore Faberge’s Woodhue Perfume. It was my signature; people would smell me coming. Could you recommend something close to Woodhue, or is there any place in the Detroit area that could do this? ~ M.R., e-mail
The Doctor says: Woodhue, one of Faberge’s most popular fragrances, was discontinued years ago. The Woodhue name was purchased by another company, but the new version is not the same, says Gary Droz, who runs Fragrances Unlimited in Ann Arbor.
And though Droz stocks 1,200 scents, he doesn’t have the original Woodhue for women.
However, he does have a chart that groups fragrances by type of scent—floral, woodsy, citrus. This could offer clues to other scents that might work for you.
To get his catalog and the chart, call him at 734-434-0692, 8am-8pm daily, send e-mail to fragranceaaa@aol.com or write to Fragrances Unlimited, 4836 Washtenaw Ave., A-7, Ann Arbor, MI 48108.
Dr. Fashion sympathizes with your desire to find your signature scent but must also warn you that if everyone can smell you coming, you are wearing way too much.
Fragrance should be a subtle gift to those nearby, not an overpowering blast that coats the room.
